OMG, this brings back such pungent memories of my childhood in California. I remember going up to the door of the neighbour who had the pomegranate tree to ask if we could each pick one. We were told we could if we promised to eat it and not waste it (as some kids on the block just threw them at each other to watch the seeds splatter). I would nod up and down and adamantly promise that I would never waste one aril. Oh, the sweet/tart joy of having a freshly picked pomegranate all ones own.
