I Need To Just Let Things Go...

Okay, so about a week ago, I found this funky little patch of skin on my chest about two inches below my collar bone. It doesn't itch, it doesn't hurt, it's just kind of a patchy, raised, weird-shaped little spot.

Now I know, I need to go get it checked. I can't stop thinking about it. BUT--as strong as the impulse is to get it checked out, there's an even stronger urge to just ignore it and hope it will go away. It's that whole thing where hearing bad news is even scarier than wondering about it.

I'm an idiot, I know, and I will call tomorrow when everyone's back in school and make an appointment. But oh, I'd rather not.

just think how relieved you'll be when you check it out and everything is fine - and how you'll brood and focus on it until you get it checked! It's truly a no-win to ignore it. You must get it checked.

I went through this same thing a few weeks ago...had a "new mole" appear on my neck that was black! How scary was that!!! I did go to the doc and she scheduled a removal date. Got it taken off. Then a late evening call from doc saying it was a cyst, benign!
Oh that word BENIGN such a sweet ring to it!!!! I hope you get the same feedback on your red patch.
I also learned (after a regular optomistrist appt. that I have a hole in my retna of one eye!) Oy, second doctor sent me to third doctor (a week from this Friday) for opinion and possible laser removal. Am I freaked out? YES! AM I SCARED? YES. Will I go? Of course. Working on staying calm in the meantime. Eyes are so extremely important. Sharing all this perhaps to help you feel not so alone in your worries. Maybe we can worry about each others and get our minds off our own but still get everything taken care of!!! Hugs.

Oh I hear ya!! Take it from one who would rather stick her head in the sand along with you... check it out soon. I am just now making way long overdue appointments - it's so easy to ignore stuff but know from experinece in the long run, as my Mom used to say "better safe than sorry" :)

Karen,
Bless your heart:) I hope you are okay and am anxious to hear you write in your blog that the doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about.
I guess there are just tons of rashes, bumps, moles, etc. that are normal, that's what my doctor said. So, let's just hope and pray this is one of those type.
I popped onto your blog to ask you if you ever read the book called, Marry your Muse by Jan Phillips? And if you did, what did you think of it.
I'm going to say a prayer for you right now.
Blessings,
Victoria

Yes, have it checked. And let us know.

Do get it checked out, Karen. Given where it is, it may just be a spot of sun damage. I have to get those frozen off my hairline all the time. Not a big deal, but they can turn into something scarier if let alone.
