Illustration Friday: Backwards

Estelle no longer needed to continually glance over her shoulder, looking backwards into the past that she feared would catch and engulf her; she finally felt she could look forward as she strode through life...

You capture the subtle nuances of affect and gesture and facial expression so well. I would love to have a children's book illustrated by you.

I love how you add words to your paintings. Many times I see the painting in a whole new different way. I especially loved the story with this one.

I think kikipotamus has it right. We need to see a children's book or graphic novel from you!

Have you ever done several paintings with the same character and different scenes? Would be cool to see what you do ...

I love the personality on this one, and the background and color choices really capture the mood.

My mother's name was Estelle. Your Estelle has a wonderful feeling to her. I love your backgrounds too!

BTW I have given you an award you can pick up at my blog.

The stories makes the paintings even better...do they just come? I want to know!

Karen,

I love this one! As always, the words and the picture is even better than the word plus the picture---SYNERGY!

I, too, could see you writing AND illustrating a book for children. Or for adults---kind of an inspirational book that would feature your collages with words and that would be read slowly and pondered. Like a collection of your work that is like this, but assembled in a way that makes sense or tells a story.

I think anything you do with the ladies would be wonderful!

xxoo,

O
