Here it is! I don't know if you can really see it, but it's got this amazing texture with lots of layers of glaze over it--I added a closeup so you can see the texture better...
I've been thinking a lot lately about the surfaces that I paint on. Lately I've been using lots of watercolor paper--It's less expensive than canvas, and I can sew on it with my sewing machine--But then there's canvas, like this, which doesn't need a mat or a frame to display it--And then there's wood--I love the way the grain can show through and how I can be very rough with it as far as sanding goes--but it can warp.
In the end I guess I love the fact that I can bring a painting on stretched canvas into the house and hang it up or prop it up, and it's done...
Which surface do you like best, and why? I'm interested...

Wonderful textures. Not only the background papers but also the colour on top, which adds dimension with the light reflections.
I´m a paper girl. Always loved papers for drawing, writing, collage, painting, cutting, the lot. :)
Thanks for you comment today. Come and play with me! :D You can write morning pages, declutter your spaces, wish to your heart´s content, paint or take pictures.
I mostly paint on acrylic paper or cardstock these days...not a very experienced artist.
Lovely!
Canvas for me....it's easiest.
I really love how this turned out. I usually use paper but I like the idea that once you are finished with a canvas piece you can just prop it or hang it up.
I am too new to mixed media to know. I had mostly tried watercolors before, so had kind of gotten used to watercolor paper.
I think this is just plain rich and touchable. :)
I use canvas, watercolor paper and board - I like to use stamps to create more layers in the background, and it's easier to get a better connection on the board, but this year that I'm away from home, I'm working in my journal on watercolor paper. I like textures and layers, so whatever works!
Is this brail? I have some and am eager to add it in for texture.
I love this background like a crazy lady. Love the torn pages. It is looking fab!
My favorite canvas is cardboard, and paper. If I have an actual canvas, I do not like the texture of canvas in general!
The textures and muted colors here are beautiful, and I love your Zentangles!
