Interestingly enough, all my self-portraits are of a slender version of me. Some wishful thinking interfering with my pencil, I guess.
I'm going to get a mirror so I can do a more accurate portrait. It was nice to notice, though, that both Jenny and Katie recognized which sketches were self-portraits as they flipped through my sketchbook! It seems that the key to a recognizable portrait is the tilt of the features, as well as the shape of the face and the proportions of the features to each other.
