Art from a Busy Week

Well, school is out for all for of the Smitheys that attend or work at school. The last couple of weeks have been busy, fun, and stressful, not necessarily in that order.

Katie had finals, Christmas Ball, and basketball games. Her date for Christmas Ball has CF, and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. They were going with a big group of kids (12 couples) so she just went with the group. I have a wonderful picture of her surrounded by 11 young men in tuxes, standing out in front of the restaurant where they went to eat. I'm so glad that the boys insisted they take that picture--Joel's friend Amber did Katie's hair, and it was really lovely. And here is a picture of Joel and Katie before she left for the dance--I can't believe how grown up they look--how grown up they are! (Katie has 6-inch heels on here, btw).

Joel's finals are over, and I think he's relieved.

Jenny got a fever the last couple of days before school got out, so she missed two days of school, including Friday, when Mr. Iden announced the parts for this year's school musical. They are doing "Oz" this year, and Jenny got the part of--Dorothy! She was excited, until she went to highlight her lines in the script and realized that she is on stage for almost the entire play... She'll be great, but it will be a lot of work.

I've been painting and trying to post things on Etsy. I also have sold two paintings, a custom jewelry order (two pendants and a pair of earrings featuring a woman's twin grandsons) and a pair of necklaces! Very exciting for me, and all traceable to the shows that I participated in this fall--

Not done with Christmas shopping, but it will get done. We passed the anniversary of my dad's death on December 13th, which was hard but manageable.

I'm looking forward to down time with my family--

Hi Kathy, Thank you for the comments on my blog post and for the info on using the fusible web for my fabric collage. I think I may try some beading on part of the fabric to outline, or maybe a shaped sequin and seed bead in open spaces. We will see! I just love your colors in your painting today and last Friday. Congrats on sales too. I never had any luck with Etsy. I never saw one of my pieces actually show up on the front page. I also never sold anything. After two different tries, I decided I must not understand how it works!

Oh you must be so proud of those young ones! Your daughter in the 6" heels is beautiful, standing next to that handsome dude. And the one who is to be Dorothy in Oz, what an honor! She must be very good to have been chosen for the main part.

Your art work is beautiful and so colorful. And thanks for your comment about my Weir children photo and my thoughts on the Sandy Hook shooting.

What a beautiful post highlighted by your gorgeous daughter in those heels (ohmygodsixinches???) and hair do and gown! Sweet that the men in her life filled in for the sick date. I hope he is okay.
