Ladder to the Sky

...so he planted the bean outside his bedroom window. And in the morning, to his amazement and delight, there rose from the ground a giant plant, a bush, no, a tree, with its trunk rising into the sky and beyond. So magnificent was this..this...beanstalk, he thought, that it looked to be a giant ladder reaching into the sky. And with no more thought than that, he began to climb...
