Ionic Bonds? Covalent bonds? I Can't Hear You...

Up till one o'clock last night helping Katie figure out some science stuff. Lots of tears (I won't tell you who cried), but in the end I think I explained it so that she could understand chemical bonds. She was so frustrated that I had to do some reading and talk with her before I had it all straight in my head--at the very end she said, "But Mom, you're just supposed to know everything already." Hmmm. Haven't had Chem since college (1982), never liked it that much--but apparently part of the job description is that I must be able to explain anything and everything without any reference materials.

Ohmygod how did I ever get through parenting? I know I outsourced the kids for help in Math. I am sure by chem the knew better to even ask me...
Thank goodness my daughter who went on to get her Master's degree, was resourceful and found the help she needed outside parents!!!
OYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I would have been crying too!

Oh that's tough.

I can't help Jane with Social Studies any more. I can however, use cheerios and a marker to explain atoms, protons and neutrons.

Oh, my gosh. I made lots of As in school, but I can't think of one subject that I could just help with off the cuff without reading the chapter the child was studying first. Never took chemistry, though. Sorry.
