Spirals Quilt

I love handstitching (which my sister says means I'm insane) and this is one I've been working on in the evenings. I did bobbin stitching in green around the circles (putting embroidery thread around the bobbin and then stitching from the back--the bobbin thread is then on the top) and the chain stitch by hand in turquoise.

I'll need to bind this (tomorrow? There's only the OLD sewing machine out here in the studio, for stitching on paper--all sewing has to be done in the house.)

Well, let me join you in insanity - I love handstitching too. There's something about the rhythm you get into that is very soothing (except for arthritis in my pointer/needle pushing finger - the lump there is a result of grandson's quilt top). I used to do it much more sparely than now. I have discovered that it is the quilting that makes the cover last. Grandson's should last forever. Daughter's is on it's 3rd round and fading (hers is 27 years old. When she was 3 she curled up in it and called it her "love quilt.").
