monday morning

Well, it's back to school here--the kids are all awake, brushed, clothed and fed--they're leaving now to walk to the bus stop and catch the bus. For all I love being with them over vacation, it feels good to have the house all to myself.

Quiet. When I close my eyes, I can feel it all around me, seeping into my bones and slowing me down. Today I have time. Of course, I have a million things to do around the house and in the studio, but I can do them at my own pace, without any interruptions, and that makes all the difference in the world.

I'm so excited to finally be working on my own website at www.ksmithey.com. It's something I've been meaning to do for some time, but after reading Teesha Moore's article in her new zine Art and Life I knew that I needed to do it this year. I've had a site for the past year at itsmysite.com, but now I'm using my own domain name. Feels good to do something proactive! The site is still in progress--I'm working on it myself a little bit at a time--but it'll get there.
